Tyrrell's – Mixed Root Vegetables: Award winner

Excellence in Food and Drink Awards 2007

Impulse Snacking
Winner: Tyrrell's Mixed Root Vegetables

Whether you're selling them by the bag in pubs or staff restaurants or providing them as a snack on a bar or a buffet, crisps - or chips - have remained popular for generations. Now Tyrrell's, a Hertfordshire family business and artisan producer that grows the potatoes it uses in its chips, also makes mixed root vegetable chips.

Tyrrell's Mixed Root Vegetables are carrot, beetroot and parsnip chips made by topping and tailing the vegetables by hand, then slicing them straight into hot sunflower oil to be fried in small batches.

The chips got the thumbs-up not just for their "great flavours" and "good selection" of vegetables but also for the "nice" packaging in both 40g and 150g bags and 800g resealable tubs. They contain no artificial or GM products, and one judge "would encourage kids to eat them".
