UK's first skinny pizza base distribution centre launched

07 June 2023 by

East Anglian father and son duo Regis and Alex Crepy have launched Amelie Distribution, the UK's first wholesale supplier of flammekueche and skinny pizza bases.

Flammekueche, a traditional dish from The Alsace on the borders of France and Germany, is a thin flatbread spread with crème fraiche and a combination of fresh toppings. The bases are made from three ingredients: wheat flour, rapeseed oil, and salt, plus water. The flatbread can also be used as a skinny pizza base.

The distribution centre, based in Cambridge, opened this month and supplies the thin bases in different sizes and shapes. They are delivered chilled ready to be topped by restaurants and catering companies, and require minimal training. Alex said that hey already had a list of clients including a trading pub group.

He added: "With one in five consumers listing pizza as one of their top three dishes when eating out, our flammekueche base is a perfect option for hospitality from market stalls to big corporations to offer delicious profitable skinny pizza without hassle."

Amelie Distribution also offers pizza boards, paddles, and slices as well as pizza ovens.

The Crepy's opened Amelie restaurant in Cambridge in August 2018, where they first introduced the flammekueche dish.

As well as owning Amelie restaurant, Regis and Alex also have residency of the Cambridge Cookery School Café, Chez Amelie Café, offering flammekueche as well as salads, tarts, and desserts.
