Union Hand-Roasted Coffee sponsors Best Newcomer at the UK Barista Championships
Union Hand-Roasted Coffee will be sponsoring the Best Newcomer award at this year's UK Barista Championship at the London Coffee Festival from 25 - 28 April 2012, hosted at the Old Truman Brewery in London.
Organised by the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE), contestants will get 15 minutes to set up and a further 15 minutes to make four espresso, four cappuccino, as well as four espresso-based non-alcoholic speciality drinks.
The winner of the Best Newcomer Award will win a trip to smallholder coffee farmers in Rwanda, with Union founders Jeremy Torz and Steven Macatonia, from whom they source their high quality speciality Arabica coffee.
Last year's winner of the Union Hand-Roasted Best Newcomer award, James Bailey, from Prufrock Coffee, based in the City of London won second place in the overall competition; the award for Best Espresso and Best Signature Drink and the ‘Brewers' Cup'.
Union as also running the Union Brew Bar during the three-day event, showcasing their finest coffees to trade and consumer coffee enthusiasts.
