United Coffee awarded Rainforest Alliance certification

United Coffee UK & Ireland has successfully passed the Sustainable Agriculture Network/Rainforest Alliance Chain-of-Custody audit programme.

During the audit process United Coffee had to demonstrate how its certified products are handled during the various stages of coffee production including reception, processing, mixing, storing, packaging, delivery, transport and resale.

The company now has the approval that its coffee is sustainable and traceable from source to finished product; through certified records, validations and training and management system records.

Rahul Ghosh, director of roastery operations at United Coffee, said: "We are continually improving our sustainable coffee offering and the high scores we've gained in this latest audit enforce our commitment to quality and traceability of our raw materials. A lot of hard work has gone into achieving these standards and I would like to thank the team for achieving such a great result for our first Sustainable Agriculture Network audit."

Rainforest Alliance certified blends from United Coffee include GrandCrü, Lyons, Grand Café, Coopers and Threesixty Rainforest blend.
