Vegware wins Scottish Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) Streamline Award
Edinburgh-based compostable food packaging firm Vegware has won the Best Innovation category and secured the overall winner prize for Scotland in the inaugural FSB Streamline Awards.
Vegware develops and manufactures its own range of plastic-free, low carbon-products made from renewable and recycled materials.
The company has supported its clients with new Waste (Scotland) Regulations that come into force from January 2014. These will require businesses to separate all waste by paper, metal and glass ready for recycling. There are also requirements on food waste disposal and this is an area where Vegware has helped businesses meet their waste obligations.
Janet Torley, chairman of the FSB, said: "These awards are designed to promote the interests of small businesses and entrepreneurs all over the UK. I'd like to congratulate all of the finalists, especially the overall winner for Scotland, Vegware.
"They have addressed the new Scottish business waste regulations in an innovative way and seen them as an opportunity. I wish all the Scottish finalists the best of luck in the UK finals in April."
