Westminster Kingsway chef to represent the UK at WorldSkills 2013
Westminster Kingsway student Stephen Smith has been selected to represent the UK as the confectionery/pastry cook team member for the UK at the Worldskills Leipzig 2013 competition taking place from 2 to 7 July this year.
Thirty-one young people from across the UK will compete and will now undertake an intensive training programme for the competition.
Smith, who has been studying at Westminster Kingsway College on the professional chef diploma, and decided to specialise in patisserie for his third year and final course, said: "It's a huge honour to represent the UK and it still really hasn't sunk in!"
Yolande Stanley, Smith's training manager and pâtisserie chef-lecturer at Westminster, said: "We are very proud of Stephen's achievement and that he will be representing the UK in this very demanding field."
