Made by winemakers in Paarl, South Africa, the residual sugar level in Man Vintners Chenin Blanc (13.5% abv), is high enough to satisfy most palates more used to "medium" white wine.

Alternatively, for customers who like a fresh, fruity and clean-tasting wine, you could serve the Marques de Riscal Rueda Blanco (12.5% abv) from Spain.

For reds, Chilean Soleus Organic Merlot is smooth with soft berry fruit flavours, has a 13.5% abv and is suitable as house-level wine or just above. Weighbridge Shiraz from Australia (14.5% abv) is a black fruit wine with a silky tannin and very smooth finish.

Also suitable to serve by the glass is the Sicilian Mandrarossa Nero d'Avola (13.5% abv), which is packed with black juicy fruit and can be sipped with all types of hearty food.
