£1.5m catering contract up for grabs at south-west London school
A south-west London school is inviting bids for a catering contract worth up to £1.5m.
The three-year contract at Wandsworth's Burntwood School, worth £300,000 a year, requires the provision of meals to students and staff and other users of the school. The contract can be extended twice for 12 months, taking it to a total of five years.
An average of 800 meals are served at the school every day. One fifth are to students who qualify for free school meals. All meat must be halal and a vegetarian option must be available.
The school, which has girls age 11 to 18 and a mixed sixth form, has a capacity of 1,740. A rebuilding project will increase capacity to 1,964 within the length of the contract. The operator would also be required to manage a small retail outlet for school uniforms.
Foodservice provider Sodexo has held the contract for the past 15 years, according to the school.
