Compass to operate retail area at Portsmouth International Port
Compass Group has signed a £10.8m contract with Portsmouth International Port to operate a retail area for passengers, marking a company first in the travel sector.
The nine-year contract, worth about £1.2m in annual revenue, will commence when the new passenger terminal opens at Easter.
Compass Retail will operate an Amigo convenience store, a Costa Coffee café and pod, a bar and a World Marche restaurant with balcony views overlooking the port, in addition to gaming and vending areas.
Lynn King, retail business director, said: "Compass' Retail business is going from strength to strength, particularly in the healthcare market, but this new contract with Portsmouth International Port is a significant and exciting step for us."
Martin Putman, Portsmouth International Port manager, added: "Quality food and drink will make a major contribution to our passengers' experience of the new terminal.
"We're confident that Compass will deliver high standards of service that customers using the best ferry and cruise terminal in the country will demand."
