Host in £1.25m deal with Abbey College

Hampshire-based contract caterer Host has strengthened its share of the independent schools market with a £1.25m deal at Abbey College, Worcester.

The five-year contract will see the independent caterer operate three meals a day, seven days a week during term time for the college's 100 international students, rising to 200 students during the summer months.

Host currently operates 85 contracts across education, healthcare and business and industry sectors, but plans are afoot to expand the portfolio to more than 100.

Founder and managing director Jerry Brand last year appointed former Aramark chief executive Bill Toner as non-executive chairman to assist the company's focus on growth over the next five years.
