Jamie Oliver picks up Emmy for US TV series
Jamie Oliver's healthy eating crusade has earned him an Emmy for his US television series Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution.
"I can't believe it," said Oliver on his Twitter feed to over 580,000 followers. "Thanks to everyone that signed the petition, 650,000 of you."
The six-part series, with a message similar to Oliver's UK School Dinners campaign that sparked a revamp of British school meals, encouraged young Americans to eat more healthily.
It encouraged supporters, including Britain's Ricky Gervais and Friends star Jennifer Aniston, to sign an online petition "to save America's cooking skills and improve school food".
The creative arts Emmys honour technical achievements and precede next week's main Emmys ceremony.
