Sodexo Prestige wins £1.5m contract with Newcastle City Library
Sodexo Prestige has picked up a £1.5m catering contract with Newcastle City Library.
The caterer, which already operates the conference and banqueting facilities at Newcastle United Football Club and at venues operated by Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums in the region, has been running the café at the library on a temporary contract since August 2011.
Following a competitive tender process, Sodexo Prestige has now signed a three-year deal to take over the running of the ground-floor site on a permanent basis.
Colin Perkins, regional director for Sodexo Prestige, said: "Newcastle City Library has always been an outstanding venue and its massive refurbishment has made it one of the city's premier sites.
"We have a proven track record in providing catering for a number of high-profile and iconic venues in the North-east and are proud to add the City Library to our portfolio."
David Fay, City Libraries' manager, said: "Sodexo Prestige has been running it on a temporary basis for some time and we have been very happy with the level of service and hospitality provided. We look forward to even bigger and better things in the future".
