A luxury hotel operator is beings sought for The Wellesley, a new 36-suite townhouse property due to open in London's Knightsbridge in November 2012.
Owned by Arab Investments' City and Country Hotels, the former office building is being developed as a "six-star hotel" by Rhimesong at a cost of £36m.
Designers Fox Linton, recently responsible for the look of the Dorchester Collection's newly opened Coworth Park in Ascot, will use the building's 1920s art deco history as inspiration for the interior.
The completed hotel will include the 28-seat Opal restaurant, serving Italian cuisine, and the Crystal bar, where live jazz will be a regular feature. The Cigar Terraces will include the UK's largest bespoke humidor.
Situated over six floors, the hotel will include what is being claimed to be London's largest suite with four bedrooms, a private lift and views over Hyde Park.
Khalid Affara, managing director of Arab Investments, said the company was looking forward to the opening of the Wellesley. "We are delighted to be creating one of the most high-quality suite hotels in London. The location of the hotel and size of 36 keys determined that the product is not only elegant and private but the service and restaurant and bar offerings will be second to none."
