Property magnate Donald Trump to build world-class golf resort in Scotland

US developer Donald Trump is to build a $500m (£271m) world-class golf resort in Scotland.

The project, currently in the planning stage, will be on the 800-acre Menie Estate, just north of Aberdeen and bordering the North Sea.

It will comprise two 18-hole golf courses, clubhouse, golf academy, practice facilities and turf research academy.

The mixed-use development will also include a luxury hotel, multiple restaurants, spa, condominiums and banqueting and conference facilities.
Ashley Cooper, executive vice-president of acquisitions and development for the Trump Organization, said: "Our goal is to create the greatest golf courses in Scotland."

The development will be known as Trump International Golf Links, Scotland with courses designed by Donald J Trump Signature Designs and golf-course architect Tom Fazio.

Work is set to start in September 2006, with a course opening scheduled for spring 2008.
