QHotels appoints first director of marketing

Premiere hotel group QHotels has appointed Fiona Morris as its first director of marketing.

Morris is a former commercial marketing manager for MacDonald Hotels and Resorts and joins the seven strong QHotel chain as it looks to step up its profile and build on recent investments.

The company was founded in 2003 by the management team together with equity backer Alchemy Partners and is headed up by managing director Michael Purtill.

Sales director David Taylor said: "Fiona will help drive the marketing elements of the group forward and position QHotels as one of the major players within the UK hotel industry."

Its properties include The Queens in Leeds, Chesford Grange in Warwick and Norton Manchester in Winchester. It has just acquired the Cheltenham & Gloucester Moat House Hotel and will invest £3m in refurbishing the property.

Hand Picked Hotels, the group run by Judith Hands, wife of financier Guy Hands, recently appointed Nick Read as marketing director. Read is a former marketer for the Travel Inn and Premier Lodge budget chains.

The group has 14 properties operated as individual country house hotels.
