Barracuda launches Juniper Inns brand

Managed pub company Barracuda is launching a fourth brand in a bid to corner the community pub market.

Hoping to attract the over 25 market, Juniper Inns will be based in neighbourhood areas of large towns and will offer cask ales, food and wine.

The first two inns will be the converted Barracuda-owned pubs the Bridlepath in Newcastle and the Grey Horse in East Bolden, near Sunderland.

They will be re-launched in June and July respectively, and Barracuda plans to add several more sites soon after, which it is currently negotiating to buy.

Barracuda chief executive Mark McQuater said: "The directors are confident that the high-quality neighbourhood local is a core niche, with an exciting growth potential which will complement the group's existing formats."

Barracuda already operates the Smith & Jones, Varsity and Barracuda Bar formats.
