Cairn Group to launch new Birmingham bar

North-East leisure operator Cairn Group has acquired a new Birmingham bar and eatery, Lobby on Hill Street.

Having already invested significant funds in the project, the Newcastle-based, privately-owned group plans to launch the bar later this month. Lobby on Hill Street marks its first venture in the Midlands.

The venue, located in the heart of Birmingham city centre, will serve cocktails and street food-style tapas dishes, boasting quirky interior décor, an airy bar area, and a heated urban terrace.

Cairn Group completed a £101m refinance deal earlier this year. In May it announced plans to put £50m towards an acquisition-focused growth and strengthening of its UK-wide portfolio, which currently stands at over 50 hotels, bars and restaurants, including the Jalou, 97 & Social, Juniper and Columbus bar.

This news follows several important investment announcements for Birmingham, including the £1bn Curzon Investment Plan for the upcoming HS2 line, and news from Southside Business Improvement District, detailing forthcoming redevelopment plans to transform the entire Smallbrook Queensway area.

Group marketing manager for Cairn Group, Jonathan Sabarre, said: "We're really pleased to announce our latest venture, Lobby on Hill Street in Birmingham. It's an incredibly exciting time for the Cairn Group, and being just steps away from Grand Central the location for Lobby on Hill Street is ideal for passing footfall. "

Vincent Garrington, Cairn Group general manager for Birmingham, said: "It is such a great time for the city, everywhere you look Birmingham is alive with activity, development, regeneration and change. The news of Lobby on Hill Street comes at such a pivotal time for the city, there is a great deal of care going into every element of this new concept to bring something new, yet complimentary to the city's already thriving scene."
