Greene King boss named Leader of the Year
Greene King chief executive Rooney Anand has been named the Leader of the Year at the 2016 Lloyds Bank National Business Awards.
The award, sponsored by Ashridge Executive Education, recognises the personal imprint of leaders and industry champions from the UK's private, public and third sectors. The finalists were judged on their achievements as business leaders in the last 18 months, and their personal achievements over the course of their career.
Anand, who has been chief executive of Greene King since 2005, said: "I have the privilege of leading a business that started 217 years ago as a small, regional brewer and pub company and over the years has grown into the country's leading pub company. The most exciting thing is there is still a lot of opportunity for the company to grow in the future."
The National Business Awards, now in their 50th year, took place at London's Grosvenor House Hotel in this week and were attended by over 1,200 business leaders, entrepreneurs, politicians and media representatives.
