Loungers opens 20th Lounge site

Café/bar operator Loungers has opened its 20th Lounge site.

The new site is on Church Road in Hove and is called Modelo Lounge. Loungers said the former Woolwich Building Society had been comprehensively refurbished to create an 80-seat venue.

The new opening takes the Loungers portfolio to 23, including three Cosy Clubs, the group's female friendly concept.

Managing Director Alex Reilley said: "We're very excited to have opened in Hove particularly as we are keen to open a number of sites in the area and see at least 3 sites in Brighton and Hove alone. Hove is a great area and we are very optimistic that we'll trade extremely well in the area."

The company said it remained on track to open eight sites in 2012 and enjoyed a like-for-like sales increase of 9%.

The opening of Modelo Lounge was the first since a £16m private equity investment made by Piper Private Equity last month.
