Ma Hubbards set for £9m expansion
Pub-restaurant chain Ma Hubbards is set for a major expansion after being sold by owner Honeycombe Leisure.
The family-dining brand, based in the North West, has been bought by newly created company Ma Hubbards Ltd.
It, in turn, has secured £9m to fund expansion of the brand at a rate of one a month for up to two years. It plans to add up to 20 restaurants, potentially bringing the estate up to 26 sites the next few years.
As part of the deal, Honeycombe has retained the management contract for the existing and new restaurants, while pocketing £500,000 cash to invest in its core pub business.
Honeycombe originally took over Ma Hubbard's from owner the Great English Pub Company in December 2003.
It now owns and operates 142 managed houses in the North of England.
