UK Airport group MAG launches food-led bar concept
UK airport group MAG has announced plans to launch Proof, a new food-led bar concept that will be entirely owned and operated by the company's in-house team.
The Proof bar concept is designed to be modern and flexible and will focus on fresh food alongside a spirits-led drinks list.
Proof will be launched at East Midlands Airport this summer with plans to then rollout the concept to Manchester and London Stansted. The move forms part of MAG's strategy to offer more of its own products to passengers.
The new brand will be operated by the MAG lounges team, which looks after the group's Escape and 1903 lounge concepts. The catering and bar operation for the UK Escape lounges was brought in house last year.
Each Proof bar will be numbered according to the year that the host airport commenced commercial flight operations. As a result, the first bar at East Midlands will be called Proof 65.
Sample dishes on the small plates menu include: egg & red Leicester cheese frittata, and hot smoked salmon fishcake with gin aioli, while the drinks list will feature 15 gins alongside beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks.
Beth Brewster, MAG executive vice-president, lounges, said: "Ultimately, we are trying to give our passengers the best possible choice of environment as they spend time in our terminals, whether that's at an airport lounge, at a MAG-operated bar, or at one of our fantastic partner brand restaurant, bars and coffee shops."
