Urbium increase development pace

Urbium, owner of Tiger Tiger, has purchased two West End venues from Spirit Group to accelerate its development programme.

Long Island Iced Tea Rooms in Covent Garden and Bar 38 on the corner of Garrick Street and Long Acre, will be re-branded and reopened in November after refurbishments totalling £3.8m.

Urbium chief executive Steve Richards said: "These two venues are among the best to come on the market in central London for some time. They will significantly increase our presence in the busy Covent Garden area and compliment our existing 17 strong West End portfolio."

The company has opened two new City of London venues this year, Apt and Alibi, and plans to launch a Tiger Tiger in Cardiff during October.

Urbium is also remodelling two One of Two venues bought in April and intends to re-launch them next month.
