Chef arrested after stealing from Gordon Ramsay

A chef at Gordon Ramsay's Savoy Grill restaurant has been arrested for stealing from the kitchen, it was reported this weekend.

Police were called after security guards at the Michelin-starred London restaurant made a random check on his bag, according to the Sunday Mirror.

In it they found a copper saucepan, hand-made crockery and expensive cutlery - together worth several hundred pounds.

A source told the newspaper: "The chef was tipped as a rising star - but he's blown it all. Mr Ramsay was furious. It's not a case of sneaking a cherry tart out for the missus - this crockery is the best money can buy."

It's believed the 27-year-old stole the goods during a break, hiding them in a bag in the locker room before taking them out when his shift finished in the early hours of the morning.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed: "A 27-year-old was arrested. He was later released after receiving a caution."
