London’s Batman-themed restaurant, Park Row, has closed after two and a half years of trading to move its immersive tasting menu to a “new London location”.
The experiential diner from Wonderland Restaurants took over the former site of Marco Pierre White’s Titanic restaurant in Soho in August 2021.
It served dishes inspired by DC, the publisher behind the Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman comics, across the Monarch Theatre and the Japanese-inspired Iceberg Lounge, a Gotham City-esque bar and restaurant that was added to Park Row in November last year.
The Monarch Theatre served a 10-course tasting menu devised by executive chef Karl O’Dell, featuring dishes resembling different DC characters.
Park Row was founded by James Bulmer, who was formerly chief executive of the Fat Duck Group and EMEA head of retail and licensing sales at Disney.
He had told The Caterer in April last year that a Michelin star at Park Row was “very much our ambition”.
Attempts to book a table at Iceberg Lounge resulted in a banner stating “This restaurant is permanently closed”, while the Monarch Theatre was unable to take any bookings via OpenTable.
A spokesperson for Wonderland Restaurants said: “After two and a half incredible years in Soho, Park Row served its last Gotham ‘39 cocktail at 77 Brewer Street on 8th April, as the DC-inspired experience closes its doors and the signature gastronomic show, Michelin Guide-rated The Monarch Theatre, prepares to open at a new location in London later this year.
“Wonderland, Warner Bros. Discovery Global Themed Entertainment, and the entire Park Row team thank the DC fans and dining enthusiasts who’ve enjoyed the culinary journey over the years. Stay tuned for more news on relocation of The Monarch Theatre, to be announced shortly.”
