USA-based Aramark has bought facilities management company ServiceMaster Management Services for $800m.
Aramark said the acquisition would allow it to broaden its services in the healthcare, education and business sectors.
ServiceMaster Management Services provides a range of services including grounds maintenance, catering and custodial services in the USA and Canada. It has net sales of nearly $1b a year.
The businessess employs 18,000 staff and manages 69,000 on behalf of its customers.
Among its 1,450 clients are Mt Sinai Hospital in New York, Princeton University, Hertz and Delta Airlines.
Aramark currently runs facilities management contracts for some 325 clients.
