Simon Warren, head chef of Aramark's contract at Andersen in Surrey Street, London, was named Chef of the Year at the company's annual achievement awards last month.
Having worked for the company for just over two years, the 32-year-old chef, pictured (centre) with TV presenter Sarah Greene and Aramark chief executive Bill Toner, was given the top prize for his "efforts and dedication to the company - going that extra mile to ensure the restaurant runs smoothly at Andersen".
The award has been dedicated to the memory of his close friend Andy Turner, who was killed in a motorcycle accident earlier this year. Turner was executive head chef for Aramark in the City.
"My first reaction was to think of the team around me, because it's a team award," said Warren. "We don't treat it as a nine-to-five job, and can work 12 hours a day because we enjoy what we do. And I was particularly pleased to win as Andy and I had worked together for seven years and I am godfather to one of his children."
