The Black Horse Inn in Kirklington, North Yorkshire, has been sold to experienced licensees Simon Oakley and Linsey Buckley off an asking price of £225,000. Previous owner Audrey Richardson sold the pub to retire. Robert Barry & Co was the agent.
The Manor House hotel on Holy Island in Northumberland has been sold for its full asking price of £575,000 to John Barlow. The nine-bedroom hotel also comprises a 32-seat restaurant and owner's accommodation. The hotel overlooks Lindisfarne Castle and is separated from the mainland for five hours, twice a day during high tide. Christie & Co was the agent.
Kirby Moor Country House hotel in Brampton, Cumbria, has been sold to Craig Forrest and Janelle Haak, newcomers to the industry, for close to £395,000. The hotel, set in two acres of land, has seven bedrooms, a residents' lounge bar, a 45-seat restaurant and two-bedroom owner's accommodation. Christie & Co was the agent.
Milton Hotels has sold two of its four hotels to Scottish-based Strathmore Hotels for an undisclosed sum. Milton had been on track to sell all of its hotels to Edinburgh-based Portland Hotels for a rumoured £25m earlier this year, but the deal fell through in September. Strathmore has bought the Alexandra hotel and Milton Hotel & Leisure Club, both in Fort William. The two hotels add a total of 216 bedrooms to Strathmore's eight-strong portfolio. The Downton hotel in Whitley Bay, Tyne & Wear, has been sold to local entrepreneurs Paul and Leslie Lister off an asking price of £525,000. The Listers plan to change the focus of the hotel away from accommodation and towards drink. The property comprises 23 bedrooms, a bar and 50-seat dining room with dance floor.
