InterContinental opens new Thai property…
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is to launch a new property in Thailand with the opening of the InterContinental Hua Hin at the end of 2008. Located a two-and-a-half hours from Bangkok, Hua Hin is a popular Thai seaside destination and includes a number of historical attractions including the Summer Palace. The 120-room resort will include a spa with outdoor garden treatment pavilions, five pools, a number of restaurants and a tea lounge. It will also feature three beachfront villas with private plunge pools.

 

… and opens first Hotel Indigo Separately, IHG has opened its first Hotel Indigo in Ottawa, Canada. The 106-room property is housed in a six-storey historic 1900s building and features four meeting rooms, a full fitness centre including indoor swimming pool and a restaurant.

 

Hilton signs management deal with second Jordan property Hilton Hotels Corporation is to manage its second property in Jordan, with the launch of the Hilton Aqaba, which is to open in 2010. The 346-room hotel, which will be part of a landmark development in the southern beach of the city of Aqaba, will include a number of restaurants, bars and multi-purpose function, meeting and conference rooms. Recreational facilities will include a swimming pool, health club and gym. The hotel marks Hilton's second property in Jordan with the 590-room Hilton Amman - Jordan Gate due to open in 2009.

 

Marco Polo to open two new China hotels Marco Polo Hotels is launching two new properties in China with the opening of two hotels in Hubei and Sichuan. The 375-room Marco Polo Wuhan in Hubei, which will open later this year, will include a number of restaurants and bars as well as a range of function rooms, a 350-seat ballroom, a spa, swimming pool, fitness centre and tennis courts. The 425-room Marco Polo Chengdu Sichuan, which is scheduled to open in 2009, will include a range of different restaurants, an entertainment bar and a number of lounges. Meeting and banqueting facilities will be designed to accommodate up to 650 guests, with other facilities including a spa, swimming pool, fitness centre and tennis courts.

 

Steinberger to open four-star Vienna hotel German hotel group Steinberger is to open a four-star hotel in the Austrian capital of Vienna by early 2009. The 186-room property, which will be located in the city's old town district near the Hofburg, will include 600sq m of conference facilities including a number of meeting rooms with the largest catering for up to 200 people. The hotel will also feature spa facilities as well as two restaurants, a café and lobby bar.
