Nairn's ex-wife to run Ramsay restaurant
The ex-wife of Scottish chef Nick Nairn is set to take on the job of general manager at Gordon Ramsay's new restaurant at Glasgow hotel One Devonshire Gardens. Ramsay is due to sign the deal to take over the restaurant today and has installed David Dempsey as head chef at the restaurant. Dempsey was previously a chef de partie at Ramsay's restaurant in Royal Hospital Road, London. Ramsay has been considering opening a restaurant in Glasgow for some time. He was in talks about taking over the Yes restaurant in West Nile Street but later decided to focus on One Devonshire Gardens. The Nairns separated in 1997 but after they parted Fiona continued to run the Braeval Inn, Aberfoyle, Stirlingshire, which the pair had established in 1986. She sold it in 1999. She then left the hospitality industry but decided to take the job at One Devonshire Gardens after Ramsay approached her directly. She said: "Gordon and I met many years ago when we all went to eat Marco's food at Harvey's in Wandsworth and we have stayed in touch since. "I've watched his progress and success with admiration over the years and obviously an offer from someone like that is something you have to consider seriously."
