Do you think it is fair to fine bar staff for serving drink to drunk customers?
You have to take responsibility for your punters, but if you have new bar staff who don't know the ropes and are a bit inexperienced, they shouldn't be held responsible.
Zoe Langringe, acting manager, The Wheatsheaf, Ealing, London
The whole thing is ridiculous. You don't know where people have been before or what they have been doing. This country is turning into a nanny state.
Nigel Cannon, manager, The Sloop, Haywards Heath, West Sussex
Before any legislation, there has to be a definite line between drunk and sober. What does the Government class as drunk? Some people come in after a meal and a bottle of wine. They are definitely not sober, so should we serve them?
Kirsten Green, manager, Bennets Bar, Edinburgh
Bar staff should not be fined, as it all comes down to the managers' training. The managers should be fined, it is their responsibility.
Sharon Stevens, manager, Ye Olde Anchor Inn, Ruthin, Denbighshire
No, it's not going to stop people drinking. When I go out, me and my mate get plastered, and barmen don't bat an eyelid.
Emma Francis, manager, The Old Pound Inn, Langport, Somerset
