Travelodge staff are being given advice on how to deal with sleepwalking guests after annual figures from the budget hotel revealed a seven-fold increase in customers wandering around an unconscious state.
The overwhelming majority (95%) of Travelodge's sleepwalkers were men, with one naked male managing to get himself locked out of the hotel and later arrested.
In response to these findings, the company is today re-issuing its Sleepwalkers Guide to all of its hotels.Â
The guide includes tips on how to handle a sleepwalker as well as hotel procedures including, requests to keep a supply of towels in reception to preserve a nude sleepwalkerâs dignity.Â
Leigh McCarron, Travelodgeâs new sleep director said: âSleepwalking is on the rise throughout the UK. We have seen an increased number of cases over the years so it is important that our staff know how to help sleepwalkers when it arises.â Â
McCarron recently replaced Wayne Munnelly as sleep director, after he was promoted internally.
