Drury sees in 100th
US hotel company Drury Inns, based in St Louis, has opened its 100th hotel, the Drury Inn & Suites in Louisville, Kentucky. The first Drury Inn opened in Sikeston, Missouri, in 1973. The group operates hotels in 15 states across the USA. Its chains include Drury Inns, Drury Suites, Drury Inn & Suites and Pear Tree by Drury.
Prague interest sold Four Seasons Hotels has sold the equity interest in its 162-bedroom Prague hotel to the property company, Quinlan Partnership. Four Seasons will continue to manage the hotel. Quinlan also owns the Four Seasons Dublin and the Four Seasons Budapest.
Oz room rates down Occupancy rates and room yields across Australia continue to suffer, according to the Andersen Hotel Benchmark Survey. Sydney, Perth, New South Wales and Adelaide all showed declining rates for the first six months of this year compared with last year.
Wendy's turns up
Wendy's International saw turnover and pre-tax profits continue to grow in its second quarter, which ended on 1 July. Turnover increased by 7.2% to £426m. Jack Schuessler, chairman and chief executive, said growth in turnover was due to solid sales performance and the opening of 64 Wendy's restaurants across North America.
