The great and the good of the hospitality industry will gather to celebrate the winners on 7 July at JW Marriott Grosvenor House London
The shortlist for the 2026 Cateys, widely known as the Oscars of the hospitality industry, has been chosen.
The awards, held in partnership with Square, honour and celebrate the strongest performers, the most inspirational brands and the highest flyers in the sector, as determined by the industry itself.
More than 100 judges, chosen for their expertise and industry knowledge, met at Cateys headline sponsor Square’s office in London to debate the nominees and choose the shortlist.
Following the judging process, the panel praised both the calibre of entries and the strength of the final shortlist.
Angela Hartnett, owner and chef-proprietor of Murano in London’s Mayfair and judge of Chef of the Year, said the judges decided on “an incredible winner”.
She said: “We’ve got an incredible shortlist. I think the winner is thoroughly deserved.”
Fellow judge Daniel Crump, owner of the Greyhound in Beaconsfield was involed in a lengthy discussion as a judge of Restaurateur of the Year – Independent, saying this year was “really interesting because of all the different applicants”.
At this year’s Cateys there are two brand new awards: Pastry Chef of the Year and the This Is Hospitality Award. The This Is Hospitality Award recognises businesses that have gone the extra mile for their community and demonstrated the enormous positive impact that hospitality can have on people’s lives.
In a first for the Cateys, the winner of the This is Hospitality Award will be decided by an industry vote. Read more about what these companies have achieved and cast your vote now.
The Cateys winners will be revealed at a glittering event on 7 July at JW Marriott Grosvenor House London in front of more than 1,000 industry leaders, operators, investors and key suppliers.
