Education caterer Chartwells has been awarded a £1.6m contract extension at Sherborne Girls School in Dorset after a high achieving first year.
Compass Group's education division announced this week the signing of a new five-year deal, after it had provided catering and onsite cleaning services at the school for the last year.
A site-based Chartwells manager will continue to manage the catering and implement policies and procedures at the school and its seven boarding houses, while a development chef will provide support at weddings, conferences and banquets that are held at the historic school.
Tony Byrne, Chartwells managing director, said: "Over the past 12 months working as a consultant to Sherborne Girls, Chartwells continuously proved its track record in the education sector by successfully understanding the culture and needs of the school, providing the students with balanced and healthy meals together with an expert range of support services. We are delighted to be working with Sherborne Girls for another five years."
Martyn Steer, bursar and clerk to the Sherborne Girls' governors, said: "In Chartwells we have found a partner which, while understanding our ethos, will challenge and motivate us to develop our catering operation. Having worked with Chartwells for over a year we are confident that we have chosen well."
