Clare Summers has been appointed sales manager of the 119-bedroom Tulip Inn Leeds Castleford, West Yorkshire. The £5.5m venue is due to open in March 2005. She previously worked as a sales consultant on the design and development of Excel Hotels, an online hotel reservation business.

 

Alistair Buckle is the new director of brand marketing at Travelodge. He joins the company from easyJet where he was head of marketing.

 

Travelodge has appointed Bill Helsby to the position of director of reservations and distribution. He joins the business from Thistle Hotels, where he was reservations services director.

 

Amanda Jones has been appointed regional sales manager at Von Essen hotels. She moves from Absolut Corporate Events, where she was event manager.

 

John Seeger has been appointed general manager of the 135-bedroom Copthorne hotel, Plymouth, Devon. He moves from the 212-bedroom Rex Grenadian hotel in Grenada, West Indies, where he was general manager.

 

Sharon Bradford has been promoted to senior assistant manager at the 152-bedroom Grand hotel in Eastbourne, East Sussex. She moves from its 106-bedroom Ashdown Park sister hotel in Wych Cross, also in East Sussex, where she was assistant manager, rooms division.

 

Contract catering

 

Manjushree Maniyar has been appointed events coordinator at Tamarind Catering and Events, the private catering arm of the Michelin-starred Indian restaurant Tamarind. She moves from the Hilton London Metropole hotel, where she was senior business centre co-ordinator.

Bath

Brigid Simmons is the new chairman of the Tourism Alliance. She replaces outgoing chairman Bob Cotton, chief executive of the British Hospitality Association. She will perform the new role in addition to her position as chief executive of lobby group Business in Sport and Leisure.

 

Simon Bath is the new general manager of the private members' Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle, Sutherland, Scotland. He previously worked for Country House Weddings in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, where he was group general manager.

 

Beeches Conference Centre near Birmingham, West Midlands, has appointed Kelly Green as sales executive. She moves from freight operator RH Freight, where she was business development manager.
