It has been revealed that the Hilton Sheffield will close before Christmas, as its owner has decided to surrender the lease of the property.
The 128-bedroom hotel will cease to operate on 15 December, with 102 employees understood to be affected. Hilton managed the property on behalf of Park Victoria Quays Lessee, a subsidiary of US-based Park Hotels & Resorts.
Park Hotels declined to provide a statement or comment on the decision to surrender the lease of what is its only property in the UK. The group has a portfolio of 66 hotels, mainly in the US.
A spokesperson for Hilton said the hotel’s closure is “in no way linked to Hilton’s operation of the hotel”, and added: “We will be contacting all guests impacted by the closure to inform them of the hotel closure and will work with them to find alternative arrangements where possible. We are committed to supporting team members at the hotel during this time and will be working closely with them to understand the best options.”
