Hilton Hotels has named Simon Vincent as area president of its newly created European division.
Vincent was previously president of Hilton UK and Ireland, which has been combined with Hilton's continental operations to create a new entity with 165 hotels and more than 42,500 rooms in 31 countries.
Hilton's president of global operations, Ian Carter, said: "I am delighted that Simon has taken on this new role and that he will be leading the Europe business during what is a very exciting time in our history.
"Europe is a key strategic growth area for Hilton, with the company planning to open more than 150 hotels over the next 10 years."
Vincent joined Hilton in January 2007 to lead the UK and Ireland business, having spent his early career in international banking and then in the leisure, travel and hospitality sectors.
In addition, Wolfgang Neumann the former area president of the European business has decided to leave the company after 24 years.
