Hawksmoor Group to close Foxlow Chiswick

Hawksmoor Group has announced that it will close Foxlow Chiswick at the end of this week having admitted "we haven't been able to make it work".

The site was bought from restaurateur Sam Harrison, who ran it for 10 years as Sam's Brasserie, along with the current Foxlow Balham site, in 2015.

In a mailing to the restaurant's database, Foxlow said that it would attempt to find roles for employees elsewhere in the group.

It said: "We're sorry to tell you that we have decided to close Foxlow Chiswick and will be closing the doors on March 18th after the lunch service. Although we've loved running the restaurant, and know that a good many of you have taken it to your hearts and become regulars, we haven't been able to make it work.

"If you do [visit our other sites] we hope you'll see some familiar faces as we're trying to find places for as many of the fantastic staff at Foxlow Chiswick as possible."

Foxlow is Hawksmoor founders' Will Beckett and Huw Gott's neighbourhood-style restaurant brand. The pair opened the Soho site in March 2017, having closed Stoke Newington saying "we made a couple of poor decisions".

In September 2017 Hawksmoor's owner Underdog reported a £9m pre-tax loss for the financial year ending 31 December 2016, which Beckett put down to Hawksmoor's sister brand Foxlow having a "pretty tough time". The Hawksmoor arm of the business made a pre-tax profit of £4.2m in the same period.

Hawksmoor was founded in 2006 and has grown to seven sites, with an eighth in Edinburgh set to open in July 2018. A branch is also planned for Westfield World Trade Center in lower Manhattan, New York, though the development has been delayed.
