Jason Atherton to open second London Maze

Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton's second Maze restaurant in London is to open in April.

First revealed in Catererlast summer (7 June), Maze Grill will be an 85-seat casual dining restaurant, housed in the Marriott Grosvenor Square hotel next to the existing Maze restaurant.

Maze Grill, which will run under the Gordon Ramsay Holdings banner, will be located in the site of the hotel's former Cobalt restaurant, with interiors by United Designers. The restaurant will feature a butcher's table, offering diners the chance to learn all the different cuts and how to prepare steak, as well as a chef's table overlooking the kitchen.

Atherton, who will oversee the menus of both Maze offerings at the Marriott hotel, said that Maze Grill's menu will be modelled on New York-style grill eateries, with dishes including grilled quail with soya, raspberry, walnuts and coriander native lobster with duck-fat chips and ginger ketchup and the signature Maze Grill burger.

Atherton launched a new branch of Maze in Prague in November last year.
