Chef Victor Garvey’s Sola will relocate from its original Soho premises to sit next door to its sister restaurant Mater1a
Michelin-starred restaurant Sola is due to relocate to new, smaller premises in Notting Hill in London.
The relocation will see Sola downsize from a 26-cover restaurant to 12 covers, which will allow chef Victor Garvey “more time to develop dishes” – bolstered by Sola’s new location next door to sister restaurant Mater1a, which opened in February.
Sola Soho, which serves signature dishes langoustine with ginger dashi and salmon roulade, will close on 6 June. Its new Notting Hill outpost is scheduled to open on 17 June.
The new Sola will offer a wine list overseen by Cristian Vega that will be nearly twice the size of that at its original site, with a focus on American wines.
Chef Victor Garvey said: “I have loved every minute of being in Soho and I am thankful to all those who have supported me, but, after seeing how happy interacting with all of the Mater1a guests on a nightly basis has made me, I have realised that our future lies in a more tailored, intimate experience, and a new chapter for Sola awaits – the best is yet to come.
“We have spent the last two months building a beautiful chef’s counter restaurant where a maximum of 12 diners can eat at a time – this allows us to really stretch our culinary legs and push the boat out, creatively.”
Garvey opened Sola in 2019 and the restaurant secured a Michelin star in 2021.
The relocation comes less than a year after the abrupt closure after five months of Victor Garvey at the Midland Grand within the St Pancras London hotel.
