The struggling bar chain had launched a formal sales process and strategic review in late 2025
The Revel Collective, the operator of the Revolution, Revolución de Cuba and Peach Pubs brands, has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators.
The announcement comes roughly three months after the pub and gastro-pub operator launched a formal sales process alongside a strategic review.
At the time of the sale, the Revel Collective, which rebranded from Revolution Bars Group following a restructuring in October 2024, said the persistent economic conditions and the “cumulative impact of government interventions in the last Budget have combined to thwart the business’ ability to improve performance”.
The business said the costs associated with changes to the employer NICs threshold, minimum wage and duty on spirits stood in excess of £4m per year.
In an update on 19 December 2025, the Revel Collective stated it had engaged with “a significant number of potential acquirers of the businesses” but that the transactions being considered “would not be expected to deliver any return to shareholders”.
In a notice filed on the London Stock Exchange today (26 January), the pub group said there had been “well advanced” discussions on its acquisition and that it anticipates a further announcement “in the coming days”.
The board said it intends to appoint administrators “within 10 business days” in a bid to protect creditors.
It added the Revel Collective will continue to trade and the company will work alongside advisers “in order to preserve as much value as possible for all stakeholders as it advances a potential sale of all or parts of the business”.
Trading in the company’s ordinary share on Alternative Investment Market (AIM) remains suspended pending further notice.
In October 2024, the business brought on Charlie McVeigh, founder of Draft House, and Gavin George, co-founder of the Laine Pub Company, as non-executive directors.
Luke Johnson was also named non-executive chairman of the business in late 2024, having acquired a 20% stake earlier this year.
The Revel Collective operates more than 60 bars and gastropubs trading mainly under Revolution, Revolución de Cuba and Peach Pubs brands.
It was founded in 1991 as a small bar in Ashton-under-Lyne, Manchester by friends Roy Ellis and Neil Macleod, both of whom left the business in 2013.
