Applications open for MasterChef: The Professionals 2024

The BBC's MasterChef: The Professionals has opened entries for its 17th series.

Any chefs who have worked in a professional kitchen across the catering industry for at least two years are eligible to apply.

Chefs must be aged 20 or over as of 25 April, have the right to live and work in the UK and be available for filming, primarily in London, for up to 25 days between April and July.

Past contestants have gone on to open their own restaurants, judge television competitions, hold residencies at hotels and work in Michelin-starred kitchens.

The 2023 winner was 24-year-old Tom Hamblet, sous chef at Camellia at South Lodge in Sussex, where he is now running a residency at the restaurant. Speaking to The Caterer, he advised MasterChef hopefuls to brush up on their pastry skills but not feel daunted about applying for the show.

Applications close on 18 March and can be accessed online here.
