Applications for the prestigious accolade will close on 31 March 2026
The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts has opened the 2026 Master of Culinary Arts (MCA) for entries.
Following a successful launch event on 8 October, applications are now officially open, closing on 31 March 2026.
Recognised as the ultimate accolade across the hospitality industry, the MCA celebrates excellence across three disciplines: kitchen, service and pastry.
The MCA is based on the Meilleur Ouvrier de France and was inaugurated in 1987. Since then, the MCA has been held every four years, with winners carrying the title for life.
The most recent cohort of MCA winners included chefs Spencer Metzger and George Blogg, as well as Daniel Crump, proprietor/director of the Greyhound in Beaconsfield.
This year’s MCA will be overseen by an honorary panel including Mark Birchall, chef patron of the three-Michelin-starred Moor Hall in Aughton (kitchen); Alain Roux, chef-owner of the three-Michelin-starred the Waterside Inn in Bray (pastry); and Thomas Kochs, managing director of Claridge’s in London’s Mayfair (service).
The 2026 MCA will be chaired by leading figures in the industry, including kitchen chair Adam Smith, pastry chairs Benoit Blin and Yolande Stanley, and service chairs Silvano Giraldin and Sergio Rebecchi.
The accolade is open to professionals working in the UK hospitality industry and candidates must have at least ten years’ full-time experience in their discipline, as well as a proven record of professional development.
Idris Caldora, chair of the MCA, said: “The award is given to a select few who meet the required standard. Those who earn the title become part of a revered culinary heritage and retain the title forever. It’s an absolute honour to chair the MCA committee alongside some of the most respected and talented figures in our industry.”
Lisa Jenkins, chief executive of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, added: “The launch of the Master of Culinary Arts 2026 is a celebration of everything that makes our industry extraordinary. The MCA is not just an award; it’s a benchmark of excellence that challenges individuals to go beyond technical brilliance and demonstrate true artistry, leadership, and service.”
