Matthew Downes joins Permanently Unique Group as head of culinary

Chef Matthew Downes has left Edwardian Hotels after 13 years and started a new role at the group behind the Tattu restaurant brand.

Downes joined Edwardian as sous chef in 2011 and rose through the ranks to become head of culinary, overseeing sites including the Londoner and May Fair hotels.

Now he has been appointed head of culinary at the expanding Permanently Unique hospitality group, which operates Tattu and Mediterranean restaurant concept Fenix.

Tattu was founded in Manchester by brothers Adam and Drew Jones in 2015 and has opened four further restaurants in London, Leeds, Birmingham and Edinburgh (pictured). There are plans to open a site in Dubai and a nightclub this year.

Permanently Unique Group wrote on LinkedIn: "We are delighted to announce that Matt Downes has joined Permanently Unique as head of culinary.

"Matt will provide a wealth of knowledge and support to the team, as we continue to grow and evolve throughout 2024 and beyond!"
