Peter Sanchez-Iglesias to close Michelin-starred Casamia

Peter Sanchez-Iglesias has announced that his Michelin-starred restaurant Casamia in Bristol will close from 20 August.

The restaurant reopened following the Covid lockdowns with a dramatic change of direction, which saw the culinary experience heightened by a tailored approach to music, lighting and art aimed at guiding diners through the menu.

The relaunch was led by head chef Zak Hitchman and centred around open-fire cooking, with diners served a 20- to 25-course menu priced at £180.

Sanchez-Iglesias says: "The project has served some amazing food - imaginative, complex and fun and for me personally it's been a breath of fresh air and really invigorating to see a restaurant operate so well in such an original way.

"But in the spirit of creativity the team and I are ready for a new project. We have great plans for this site to become something new, and a little more accessible, later this year."

Casamia has retained a Michelin star since 2009. The restaurant will continue to serve its guests with the same team remaining in place until its closure.
