He takes over from Calum Ross, who has recently retired from the industry
Stuart Cran has been appointed general manager at Hilton Glasgow.
He takes over from long-standing incumbent Calum Ross, who has recently retired.
Cran brings nearly 30 years’ industry experience to the role, joining from the DoubleTree by Hilton Dunblane, where he led the team for more than nine years.
His appointment at the 320-bedroom Hilton Glasgow marks his fourth general manager role within the Hilton Worldwide group, including at its hotels in Dundee and Edinburgh Airport.
Cran said: “Hilton Glasgow has always been an aspirational hotel for me to manage, and it’s an exciting time to join the business. With the hotel continuing to invest in its people and facilities, including the launch of two innovative new event and wellness spaces, there’s a real sense of momentum and ambition within the team to retain its spot as the leading hotel in Glasgow.
“My experience across the Hilton portfolio, including leisure, corporate and events, will support the hotel’s continued success as one of Scotland’s leading destinations for business and leisure guests. Calum has left an incredible legacy, and I’m excited to build on that with fresh energy and focus.
Reflecting on his retirement, ex-general manager Ross added: "I’ve spent my entire career in hospitality, but my time at Hilton Glasgow will always hold a special place in my heart. Retirement has been on the cards for a few years, but I wanted to be sure the hotel was in good shape, with a great team behind it, before handing it over to a trusted pair of hands who will continue to build on its legacy.
“Going forward, I hope the hotel continues to listen closely, embrace change and adapt to what guests need. I have every confidence that Stuart will keep pushing forwards, growing and evolving – and he has my full support in doing so.”
During Ross’ 40 years in the industry, he has held senior positions at the likes of Stakis, Jarves and Hilton Hotels, and earlier this year received the HIT Industry Award in recognition of his significant contributions to hospitality.
The Hilton Glasgow also features a grand ballroom accommodating up to 1,000 guests and 16 meeting and event spaces.
