It comes after private equity firm Limestone Capital acquired the hotel in February
Lifestyle hotel and members’ club Aethos has confirmed it will be taking over the site of Nobu Hotel London Shoreditch.
It comes after private equity firm Limestone Capital, which backs Aethos, announced it had acquired the east London hotel for an undisclosed sum in February.
In a post on LinkedIn, Swiss hospitality company Aethos said: “The rumours are true – Aethos is coming to London. This summer, we’re rewriting the rules of hospitality. Say goodbye to the old Nobu London Shoreditch, and hello to Aethos London Shoreditch – a bold new lifestyle hotel and members club built on connection, creativity, and well-being.
“Think striking design, a boundary-pushing culinary concept, a boutique spa, and a training studio that puts longevity first – all tucked into the heart of east London. Curious? You should be.”
Benjamin Habbel, co-founder and chief executive of Aethos, later added: “Aethos is more than just a lifestyle hotel company - it’s a global community. With the launch of Aethos London Shoreditch, we are excited to introduce a new kind of members’ club to East London - one rooted in shared experiences, inclusive club culture, and thoughtful social programming to enable meaningful connections. Shoreditch has always been a hub of creativity and culture, making it the perfect location for our London debut.”
According to Aethos’ website, bookings will open at the new London hotel from 15 September.
The 164-bedroom east London hotel launched in 2017 as Nobu Hospitality’s first European hotel.
Limestone Capital, which also owns hotels in Portugal, Italy, France and Spain, said the acquisition was a strategic investment for the firm it looks to strengthen its presence across major European markets.
Aethos was founded in 2018 and currently operates seven hotels and retreats across Portugal, Italy, France and Spain.
Its membership fee starts from €650 (£543) a year for the ‘Essential’ tier, while its ‘All Access’ fee rises to €2,500 (£2,089) a year.
A spokesperson for Nobu Hotel London Shoreditch commented: "Nobu Hospitality confirms that effective August 5, 2025, Nobu Hotel Shoreditch will undergo a rebrand and will no longer operate as a Nobu Hotel and Restaurant. We are working closely with Limestone Capital to ensure a seamless transition for all guests, staff, and stakeholders.
"As we continue to expand globally, we remain committed to collaborating with our trusted network to deliver exceptional experiences that embody the Nobu ethos. We look forward to sharing updates on our growing portfolio of restaurants, hotels, and residences."
