Time is running out to enter the Cateys, the industry’s celebration of excellence
There is just one left to nominate the biggest talents and greatest brands in the hospitality industry for recognition at the 2026 Cateys, held in partnership with Square.
Returning to JW Marriott Grosvenor House London on Tuesday 7 July for an unforgettable evening, the ceremony will showcase the finest that the hotel, restaurant, foodservice and pub and bar industries have to offer.
The awards are the industry’s only independent benchmark of operational excellence, with entrants judged by their peers and industry experts.
This year there are 24 categories, ranging from Pub and Bar Award to Chef Award, Menu of the Year to Education and Newcomer of the Year.
The 2025 Cateys Newcomer Award winner recently shared his experiences of winning such a coveted award, describing the experience as “unforgettable”.
Speaking to The Caterer, Gary McDermott, owner and chef of Sonnet in Alnwick, Northumberland, said: “We would wholeheartedly encourage anyone to enter the Cateys – the experience is unforgettable.”
This year, The Caterer is excited to feature two new awards.
The Pastry Chef of the Year, sponsored by CH&Co, has been launched to celebrate creativity and distinction within the discipline and is open to pastry chefs from all areas of the hospitality industry.
James Stagg, editor of The Caterer, said: “The Chef Award has long been heralded as the ultimate achievement in the professional kitchen and now we have introduced an award to complement this accolade and recognise outstanding colleagues. We’re looking for masters in pâtisserie from hotels, restaurants and contract caterers, who are pushing the boundaries of their craft while also contributing to the wider industry.”
The new This Is Hospitality Award has also been unveiled to complement The Caterer’s This is Hospitality campaign.
Stagg said this accolade gives “us the perfect opportunity to recognise a business that has gone the extra mile to engage with their community and showcase the great work that hospitality can do”.
Winning a Catey reaffirms an individual’s and an operator’s unparalleled position within the sector and showcases their tireless commitment to supporting the UK’s hospitality sector
