Crowdfund launched following sinking of London party boat

A £5,000 crowdfund has been launched to support staff who were impacted by the sinking of a floating bar, restaurant and nightclub in London.

At the time of writing, over £3,600 had been raised over the weekend by 86 supporters.

The Bar & Co boat, which was moored at Temple Pier on the River Thames, sank amid heavy rainfall from Storm Henk last week (4 January).

A spokesperson for HM Maritime and Coastguard Agency said: "The alarm was raised at about 12.30pm and everyone is accounted for. The RNLI's Tower lifeboat, Metropolitan Police boat and London Fire Brigade boat were sent."

Bar & Co was founded as a family business by Jorge Gallardo in 2008.

It had a total capacity for 130 people and was also used to host private parties and sporting event screenings across its lower and upper deck.

The JustGiving crowdfund was launched by Penya Blaugrana London, the FC Barcelona London Supporters Club, who regularly watched the Barca league, cup or Champions league matches on board the Bar & Co boat.

Funds will go towards supporting Bar & Co management and their staff.

The campaign read: "Bar & Co staff has always been very kind and accommodating, and they will appreciate the financial help."
