Hospitality Rising hits 250,000 job applications
Recruitment initiative Hospitality Rising has generated 250,000 job applications since it launched in October 2022.
The campaign has reached more than half of people aged under 30 and reported that one in three jobseekers are now considering a career in hospitality, compared to just one in five in August 2021.
More than 90,000 job opportunities have been posted on the platform to date, which have gained more than 800,000 views.
The movement was particularly successful on TikTok, where it received 60,000 clicks and 17 million impressions over the past year.
It has also raised £1m from the support of six celebrity chefs and more than 300 operators, suppliers and trade bodies.
Hospitality Rising launched in late October last year in response to the chronic staff shortage in the industry. It was founded by former Pret A Manger and Yo! Sushi marketing chief Mark McCulloch.
Commenting on the milestone, McCulloch said: "These incredible results mark a significant step towards addressing the ongoing challenges in the sector's job market and its image as an appealing sector in which to work. They prove our strategy and creative are the right ones and show the progress we are making."
It comes after the Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed the number of job vacancies in the hospitality sector fell for the fourth consecutive month to 124,000 between May and July 2023, with figures down by 47,000 compared to the same time last year.
